5. FC Basel
The Swiss champions are used to plying their trade in the Champions League at this stage of the season, but they were knocked out by Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the play-off stage. They are a team known to pull off a few shocks; particularly against English clubs who they have avoided in this year’s groups, but do still have a tricky section to negotiate with Fiorentina, Lech Poznan and Belenenses. Urs Fischer has some well-known players in his squad to watch, with Champions League winner Walter Samuel and ex-Liverpool defender Philipp Degen in their squad.
