Tom Nichols scored Exeter’s opener against Liverpool

Friday night’s televised game saw League Two side Exeter City draw 2-2 at home to a youthful Liverpool outfit.

With just 34 appearances between them this season, the Reds XI trailed within 10 minutes as Tom Nichols slid the ball home.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side drew level three minutes later when Jerome Sinclair tucked the ball home from inside the area.

Before the first half was out, there was still time for the Grecians to go into the break ahead, as Lee Holmes’ corner evaded everyone and beyond a rather embarrassed Adam Bogdan.

With Liverpool facing elimination, the impressive Australia international Brad Smith was on hand to fire the ball home from a rebound to set up a lucrative replay at Anfield which is set to earn Exeter around £1m.
