The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s regional quarter-finals took place this week as eight teams from League One and Two took a step closer to Wembley.
Wigan, Barnsley, Fleetwood, Morecambe, Yeovil, Millwall, Oxford and Southend United all progressed to the last-eight and know they are just two ties away from the showpiece final.
But who were the stars of the week; the players who helped their sides advance through yet another round or those who didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
Here are our top-5 performers from the round of 16……
5. Danny Rose (Oxford United)
Rose was Oxford’s stand out performer as an inexperienced side, which included many changes, ran out comfortable 2-0 winners away at struggling Dagenham.
The midfielder displayed a tremendous range of passing, starting wave after wave of attacks.
Calm in possession, choosing the right time to either keep the ball or start an attack, the 27-year-old was also strong in the tackle.
The former Manchester United youth player has been a regular this season for the Us, playing an instrumental role in their promotion charge, as they currently sit in second place.
