A lot is made about individual stats these days. Which player has made the most successful dribbles, the most accurate passes or run the longest distance in a match are just three of many highlighted in the modern day game.

But going back not too long ago it was mainly just good old fashioned goals and assists that fans really checked out on a weekly basis.

Racking up a lot of the latter – creating a goal for a teammate – is a sign of the ultimate playmaker – someone who can thread a pass through the eye of a needle.

This season Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser and Manchester City’s Leroy Sane currently hold gold, silver and bronze position when it comes to the title of the Premier League’s most creative player.

But which players have laid on the most goals since the England’s top-flight kicked off in its current format back in 1992?

Find out here….

5. Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal) – 94

Just six short of a century, Dennis Bergkamp, who scored 87 times for Arsenal in the Premier League, was known more for his creativity rather than goalscoring ability.

A real number 10, the Dutchman made some unreal skill and passes to set up 94 goals for his team-mates during his 11-year spell at Highbury in which he won three league titles.

Playing up top with Ian Wright and Thierry Henry, it’s no wonder these fellow legends are the North London club’s top-two record goalscorers.

With 94 assists to his name, the striker is not the only ex-Gunner on this list but he’s the only one to be named in the Arsenal fans’ official All-Time XI.

4. Frank Lampard (West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City) – 102

Sneaking just in over the century mark is Frank Lampard who notched up 102 for West Ham and Chelsea.

Unlike Dennis Bergkamp, the former England international midfielder was known more for his prolific goalscoring record.

In a Premier League career which lasted almost two decades, Lampard struck 177 times in the top-flight.

The model pro started his career in England at West Ham and ended at Man City but he’s known for his 13 year-spell at Chelsea, where he won three league titles and became the club’s all-time record scorer with 211 goals.

3. Wayne Rooney (Everton, Manchester United) – 103

Simply one of the best players England has every produced, Wayne Rooney sits one assist ahead of his former Three Lions colleague, Frank Lampard.

Starting his career at boyhood club Everton, it was clear to see the then teenage star had everything pass in his locker.

After two impressive seasons Wazza took his skills to Manchester United where he became the club’s all-time record scorer with 253 goals in his 13 years at Old Trafford.

Now plying his trade in America with D.C. United, Rooney, who laid on 103 Premier League goals for the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo, lifted the league trophy five times.

2. Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal, Chelsea) – 111

When Cesc Fabregas made his Premier League debut as a 16-year-old at Arsenal he brought a way of playing that had not really been seen in the English game before.

The fresh-faced teenager was all about possession, keeping the ball to tire the opponent down before playing the ultimate killer pass, of which he played 111 of in the Premier League.

As well as working out well for Spain, who he helped win two European Championships and the World Cup, he lit up Highbury, the Emirates and Stamford Bridge with some of his passing masterclasses.

After failing to win the title in his time at Arsenal, the playmaker joined Chelsea in 2014 and lifted the trophy twice in four seasons before departing for Monaco earlier this month.

1. Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) – 162

A player with a host of Premier League records to his name, Ryan Giggs is the assists king by some way.

The ultimate one-club man, the Welsh wizard spent his entire 24-year professional career at Old Trafford, playing a club-record 963 appearances.

Giggs played with strikers such as Eric Cantona, Andy Cole, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney at United, and he made their job a whole lot easier.

As well as setting up 162 goals in the top-flight, the winger also hit the back of the net 109 times as he helped the Red Devils win 13 titles – more than any other player.
