It was only a matter of time before the managerial merry-go-round begun in the top flight, and the first two casualties have come on the first weekend of October.

On Sunday afternoon, Sunderland and Liverpool were both left with a vacancy to fill. Dick Advocaat fell on his own sword at the Stadium of Light with the Black Cats rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, and Brendan Rodgers being sacked hours after the Reds 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby at Everton.

With 30 games remaining there is still more than enough time for sides near the bottom of the division to turn their form, however many clubs will start to consider a change of management if results don’t improve in the near future.

We’ve taken a look at five other top-flight bosses who could be handed their P45 this season.

5. Jose Mourinho (Chelsea)

No one could have predicted the start to the season the reigning champions have had, especially ‘The Special One’. Eight points in as many games and 10 adrift of league leaders Man City makes this their worst start to a season in over 35 years. Mourinho was given a vote of confidence by Roman Abramovich after their 3-1 loss to Southampton at the weekend, and The Blues could easily turn their form around soon. However, the ghosts of 2007 are lurking, and a failure to return to move up the table in the near future could see Jose depart Stamford Bridge once more.
