4) Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City)
City travelled to struggling Sunderland and returned from the North East with all three points, yet the story may have been different if it wasn’t for Otamendi.
The Black Cats, despite losing 1-0, peppered the away side’s goal with 11 shots and eight corners, and although Joe Hart made two fine saves, the Argentina international defended brilliantly to block Dame N’Doye’s effort, before then clearing it off the line.
The 27-year-old also made three fantastic blocks as the Citizens stayed within three points of league leaders Leicester, ahead of their meeting at the Etihad on Saturday.
