1. Jermain Defoe (Sunderland)

Defoe has scored five goals in his last two league games.

The veteran striker continued his rich vein of goalscoring form as Sunderland recorded a fantastic 4-2 away victory against fellow strugglers Swansea City.

Defoe put Sunderland 1-0 up after just three minutes as he tapped in from close range, with a hint of offside, after Lukasz Fabiański spilt Fabio Borini’s shot.

With another hint of offside, the former Spurs star met Adam Johnson’s through ball to finish and put his side 3-2 up.

The 33-year-old then settled the game, grabbing his hat-trick in the process, as he slid home Patrick van Aanholt’s low cross with five minutes left to play.

The win moved Sam Allardyce’s side up to 18th place and just one away from Swansea, who occupy the position just above the drop zone.
