Manchester City maintained their 100% winning start to the season with an impressive 4-0 win at home to AFC Bournemouth, leaving them two points clear at the top of the table.

Early challengers in second place are Everton, who are looking rejuvenated under new boss Ronald Koeman as they romped to a 3-1 win against newly promoted Middlesbrough on Saturday evening.

Elsewhere; there were wins for Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Watford, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Tottenham.

But in a week of emphatic victories, who were the top performers?

Here’s SHOOT’s Top 5 Premier League of the Weekend…

Etienne Capoue (Watford)

The 28-year-old is in the form of his life with four goals and an assist from his opening five league games this campaign.

His strikes have come from just seven shots, despite failing to score at all in 33 games last season.

Against Manchester United, his scoring run continued when he put the Hornets 1-0 up in the first-half as he fired past David de Gea from Daryl Janmaat’s cut-back.

The seven-time France international continued to break up play and look neat in possession as Walter Mazzarri’s side eventually ran out 3-1 winners, condemning Jose Mourinho to his third defeat in eight days – the first time this has occurred in 14 years since he was manager of FC Porto.

Islam Slimani (Leicester City)

A Premier League debut to remember for the Algeria international as he scored twice in Leicester’s 3-0 home win over Burnley.

Slimani opened the scoring in stoppage time at the end of the first-half as he rose the highest to meet Christian Fuchs’ free-kick from the left wing.

The 28-year-old then doubled his tally and his side’s advantage shortly after the interval as he once again headed home after excellent work from Riyad Mahrez found Jamie Vardy, who flicked the ball up to allow the Foxes’ record signing to convert.

Andros Townsend (Crystal Palace)

Townsend opened his account for Palace in an impressive 4-1 win over Stoke City with a lovely right footed strike to put his side 4-0 up.

The goal was the exact opposite of what the 11-capped England winger has created a reputation from, that being cutting in from the right wing on his left foot, as he did instead cut in from the left onto his right before firing past Shay Given.

The Eagles’ £13m summer signing from Newcastle United had already provided the free-kick which saw fellow new-boy James Tomkins open the scoring, before goals from Scott Dann and James McArthur had put the hosts in cruise control.

Fresh from his six-month spell in the north east, the 25-year-old winger has looked rejuvenated and has continued this good form in the capital as he looks to force his way back into the England side under new boss Sam Allardyce.

Nacer Chadli (West Bromwich Albion)

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger is reaping the rewards of moving to the Hawthorns as he scored twice in West Brom’s 4-2 win over West Ham United.

Now the star in the side, instead of one of many back at Spurs, the Belgium international is playing with freedom as he looks to force his way into new international manager Roberto Martinez’s plans after missing Euro 2016.

Chadli opened the scoring from the spot after eight minutes, sending Adrian the wrong way after new signing Arthur Masuaku was penalised for handball.

The 27-year-old then found Salomon Rondon in the area to put the Baggies two-nil up, before claiming another assists, this time for James McClean, as his shot was diverted home by the Republic of Ireland international.

Into the second-half and the one time Dutch KNVB Cup winner with FC Twente put Albion into an unassailable 4-0 lead as he converted into an empty net after he and Rondon had broken away from a Hammers’ corner.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

City are marching towards the Premier League title already and playmaker De Bruyne is stealing the headlines with star striker Sergio Aguero currently suspended.

The fair-haired creator opened the scoring against Bournemouth with a cheeky free-kick that he hit under the jumping wall and thus catching out goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

On 25 minutes the Belgium international was involved again as he slipped through Kelechi Iheanacho who found the exceptional Raheem Sterling to just about squeeze the ball over the line despite Andrew Surman’s best efforts.

Halfway through the second half and the 25-year-old claimed an assist for himself as he slipped through a perfectly weighted pass for Ilkay Gundogan to settle the game at 4-0.

The former Chelsea player has now been involved in 34 goals in just 48 appearances for the Citizens.
