Southampton’s club-record signing, Guido Carrillo.

Newcomers Brighton and Hove Albion have smashed their club-record transfer fee to land PSV Eindhoven star Jurgen Locadia, Burnley have completed deals for widemen Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Aaron Lennon respectively, and Liverpool have stumped up a world record transfer fee for defender Virgil van Dijk.

Newcastle United have secured the services of Chelsea winger Kenedy on loan, Southampton have spent a club-record £19m to lure AS Monaco striker Guido Carrillo to St Mary’s Stadium, and West Ham United have secured the loan signing of UEFA Euro 2016 champion Joao Mario from Inter Milan.

But, with Deadline Day looming, Shoot! have picked out our Top 5 Premier League signings of the January 2018 transfer window, so far…

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal to Manchester United)

Despite Manchester City looking hot favourites to land the Chile forward this month, it was arch rivals Manchester United who snapped up the Arsenal wantaway star in a straight swap deal – more on that transfer next!

The 29-year-old scored 80 goals in 166 games overall for The Gunners following his arrival from FC Barcelona back in 2014, and made his Red Devils debut against Yeovil Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United to Arsenal)

Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford came at a cost though, with midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading the other way and signing for Arsenal in a straight swap deal worth £35m.

The Armenia international, 29, netted 13 goals in 63 appearances for United following his switch from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in 2016, but had fallen down the pecking order under Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho this term.

Ross Barkley (Everton to Chelsea)

Defending Premier League champions Chelsea have secured the services of one recruit so far this month, England international midfielder Ross Barkley.

The 24-year-old cost The Blues around £15m from Everton, and made his Chelsea debut against Arsenal in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg last week.

Barkley scored 27 goals in 179 games overall for Everton.

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton to Liverpool)

Virgil van Dijk is officially the world’s most expensive defender of all-time following his transfer to Liverpool earlier this month.

The Netherlands international, 26, set back The Reds a whopping £75m in the New Year, following his move from Premier League rivals Southampton.

Theo Walcott (Arsenal to Everton)

And finally, England international forward Theo Walcott opted for pastures in 2018 after leaving Arsenal after 12 years at the North London club.

The 28-year-old is now playing in blue for Everton following his £20m transfer, after scoring 108 goals for The Gunners in all competitions since his high-profile teenage transfer from Southampton back in January 2006.
