It was one of the biggest transfer sagas over the summer, but John Stones’ protracted move from Everton to Chelsea never occurred, despite a number of offers, after the Toffees turned down the defender’s transfer request.
But with Jose Mourinho’s Blues starting the season in poor fashion, looking especially vulnerable at the back, it is likely that the club will go back in for the England international in January.
It will take a big fee to get him (possibly around £40m), but will they finally get their man?
