Ahead of this weekend’s top-flight action, Shoot! looks through the record books to name the Top 5 Premier League goalscorers of all-time.

Can you name the Top 5? If not, let’s give you a helping hand, by ruling out some names.

At number six is former Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City striker Robbie Fowler, who netted 163 Premier League goals during his career.

Jermain Defoe is seventh on the all-time list, having scored 158 times in the English top-flight so far, with the 34-year-old still playing, currently at AFC Bournemouth, having also featured for the likes of West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Sunderland previously.

England international Defoe could add to his tally tonight, when his Cherries side host newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion (20:00).

Bournemouth’s Jermain Defoe is currently on 158 Premier League strikes.

Further down the list; at number eight, is Liverpool legend Michael Owen with 150 strikes, having also played for Manchester United, Newcastle United and Stoke City.

Number nine is Les Ferdinand (149), who most notably played for Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham and Newcastle.

And finally, at number ten, is ex-Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham United and Millwall hitman Teddy Sheringham with 146 goals.

So, all that is left to do is for Shoot! to reveal the Top 5! Here we go…

5. Thierry Henry

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

With 175 strikes, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is number five on the all-time list.

The French hitman only featured for The Gunners in the English top-flight – during two spells between 1999-2007 and 2012 – winning three FA Cups, two Premier League titles and two FA Community Shields.

Henry netted 175 times in just 258 league outings. Prolific!

4. Frank Lampard

Chelsea great Frank Lampard.

Also The Blues’ all-time leading goalscorer, Chelsea great Frank Lampard is at number four.

The 39-year-old, who left Stamford Bridge three years ago, before signing for Manchester City and New York City FC down the line, scored 177 Premier League goals in over 600 top-flight appearances overall between 2001 and 2015.

Six of his league goals were struck at Premier League rivals City during the 2014-15 campaign.

3. Andrew Cole

Andrew Cole scored just one goal in 15 international caps for England.

Into the Top 3 we go, starting with former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole.

Although the 45-year-old also played for the likes of Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and even Arsenal, the ex-England international scored the majority of his 187 Premier League strikes with The Red Devils (94).

2. Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has netted twice in the Premier League for Everton this season.

The last player in this chart still going strong in the top-flight, is Everton’s Wayne Rooney.

Having rejoined his boyhood club from Manchester United this summer; where he surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton as The Red Devils’ all-time leading goalscorer earlier this year, the former England captain is currently on 200 Premier League goals.

Rooney could increase that tally when he takes his Toffees teammates back to Old Trafford (16:00) on Sunday in the top-flight.

1. Alan Shearer

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer.

And finally, at number one, it is Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer!

As if you didn’t already know; the Match of the Day pundit netted 260 times in the Premier League during his prolific career, 148 of those strikes for The Magpies, whilst also featuring for Southampton and Blackburn Rovers beforehand.

Will his record tally ever he beaten?
