Eric Dier (Tottenham)
Since Dier’s arrival at White Hart Lane last summer, he has constantly shown signs of being at future first-team regular for England. With 23 youth caps to his name, he has started to stake his claim as a regular for his club side with his versatility being a key element to his game.
Dier has most often featured at right-back and centre-back, but this season Mauricio Pochettino has utilised the 21-year-old as a defensive midfielder. After impressing in the role, it was a surprise to Spurs fans that he was not picked by Hodgson, with the England gaffer preferring club team-mate Dele Alli instead.
With Dier being comfortable in three different positions, having him in the first-team squad could solve a lot of selection dilemmas for Hodgson as his impressive club form is surely too good to ignore.
