Howard Kendall (Everton)
Howard Kendall remains the most successful manager in the history of Everton after his achievements between 1984 and 1987. During this time at the club, he won the FA Cup, two league titles and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
Kendall quit for Athletic Bilbao in 1987, but returned once more in November 1990 to replace Colin Harvey, who had been sacked, only to strangely became Kendall’s assistant.
Whilst he turned the club’s form around in his first season back, Everton remained little more than a mid-table side during the Englishman’s second spell. After realising that he could not recreate the glory days of the 1980s, he resigned in December 1993, but did go on to have a third spell in charge in the 1997/98 campaign.
