Top 5: Young players to watch in 2019/20 Premier League season

The 2019/20 Premier League season fast approaching and there’s a host of talented youngsters who will all be aiming to make it their breakthrough year.

With transfer fees continuing to hit new highs clubs are more aware than ever that a young gem could save them lots of cash in the transfer market.

But which starlets will managers trust to have in their first-team squad and which have the ability to make a telling impact?

We’ve picked out five players who this season could put really make a real name for themselves in the greatest league on earth.

Rhian Brewster

Rhian Brewster’s heroics in England’s winning 2017 Under-17 World Cup campaign, where he won the Golden Boot, proves he knows where the net is on the big stage.

An ankle injury, which has required two operations and a painful year out of action to recover, has held the 19-year-old back.

But with the striker now fully fit and having a terrific pre-season with the Reds, Jurgen Klopp has stated his intention to use the talented teenager this year.

Max Aarons

Max Aarons played a pivotal part in Norwich City’s Championship win and promotion back to the Premier League.

He played 41 games in the second-tier last season and was selected for the 2018/19 Championship Team of the Year as well as being awarded the 2018/19 EFL Young Player of the Season Award.

Many people are now excited to see if the 19-year-old right-back international can make the step-up to Premier League football.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount had a terrific loan spell at then Frank Lampard’s Derby County, registering 13 goals and four assists from midfield as the Rams reached the play-off final.

The 20-year-old is now unsurprisingly back at what is now Lampard’s Chelsea and, after signing a new long-term deal, is expected to be in the first-team.

A playmaker with a box-t0-box mentality, the England Under-21 international recently netted twice in the Blues’ 4-3 friendly victory at Reading.

Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood has impressed in pre-season for Manchester United, scoring against both Leeds United and Inter Milan.

The 17-year-old is the second youngest player to represent the Red Devils in both the Champions League and Premier League after his appearances last term.

With current striker Romelu Lukaku looking to leave the club, many are excited to see what kind of role the England Under-18 forward can play in United’s season.

Eddie Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah definitely has a bright future ahead of him and could pose to be surprise squad player should Unai Emery decide against loaning the striker out.

During the 2016/17 season the England Under-21 international bagged 15 goals in 16 appearances for the Under-18s and also scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for the Under-23s.

He was subsequently called up to the senior squad where he has scored three times in 19 appearances over two years but, after impressing with three goals in pre-season, he will now look for further opportunities to prove his worth.
