It only just seems like it’s finished, but the Premier League is again very nearly back for the 2020/21 season.

Although superstars such as Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes will be expected to light up the top-flight once again, there’s also a host of talented youngsters aiming to make their mark.

Here we select who our top 8 teenagers to keep an eye on throughout what promises to be an exciting upcoming campaign.

Curtis Jones (Liverpool)

This time last year not many outside of Liverpool had heard of Curtis Jones. However, in the 2019/20 season the midfielder starred when given opportunities, most notably scoring a fabulous winning goal against Everton in the FA Cup. Talented and with a great mentality, the 19-year-old be hoping to add to his six Premier League appearances from last term.

Mason Greenwood (Manchester United)

You may already say that Mason Greenwood has already arrived. However, despite an impressive breakthrough season, that doesn’t stop him being – again – one of the teenagers to watch in the 2020/21 campaign. The striker netted 17 times for United in 54 appearances last term as he became the first player aged 18 or under since Michael Owen (1997/98) to score 10+ goals in a Premier League season.

Billy Gilmour (Chelsea)

Midfielder Billy Gilmour stole the headlines with his composed performance against Liverpool in Chelsea’s FA Cup victory back in March. This saw him stay in Frank Lampard’s plans for the rest of the campaign as he racked up 11 appearances in all competitions, including six in the Premier League. Despite a number of new faces arriving in the summer, the Scot, 19, will be aiming to keep his spot.

Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton)

Standing at 6ft 5in, Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the tallest and youngest players in the Premier League. Having signed from Carlisle United in January, the centre-back didn’t take long to impress boss Carlo Ancelotti who handed him his first-team debut in July. He then made a further three Premier League appearances – starting two – and staking a claim to keep his spot in 2020/21.

William Saliba (Arsenal)

Arsenal secured a £27million deal with Saint-Etienne for the signing of William Saliba last summer but loaned him straight back to the Ligue 1 side for a season. Now back with the Gunners, many are expecting the Frenchman, 19, to start the 2020/21 season in what has been a fragile backline.

Bukuyo Saka (Arsenal)

One of the standout youngsters in the 2019/20 season was Arsenal’s Bukuyo Saka. The 18-year-old made 38 appearances in all competitions, registering four goals and ten assists in the process. Impressively, Saka played a number of positions for the Gunners, showcasing his versatility. The fact eyebrows were made when he was left out of Gareth Southgate’s recent England squad shows how highly the London-born star is rated.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)

You may not see this Arsenal youngster until the end of 2020 due to injury, but Gabriel Martinelli will still be one to keep an eye on. The Brazilian caught the eye for the Gunners in a debut season which delivered 10 goals in 26 appearances. Rapid pace, bundles of skill and an end product, the 19-year-old is tipped to go right to the very top.

Brandon Williams (Manchester United)

Manchester United have a great reputation of bringing through young talent and – alongside Mason Greenwood – left-back Brandon Williams is another to be getting plenty of first-team minutes. The left-back played 36 times in all competitions in his debut season and scored his first senior goal. Now, 19, he will hope to edge ahead of Luke Shaw in the fight for a spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI this term.
