Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a £20m offer for England international star Ross Barkley, according to the Telegraph.
The Premier League side, who fell to a 2-1 defeat at Wembley Stadium to the hands of defending league champions Chelsea on Sunday, have been continuously linked with luring the Everton midfielder to the national stadium ahead of the close of the summer transfer window on August 31.
The 23-year-old, who has 22 international caps for The Three Lions, has failed to feature for The Toffees so far this season due to a hamstring injury.
Barkley, who has been with Everton since the age of 11, scored six goals and provided nine assists in all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s side last season.
The report suggests Spurs are weighing up a £20m offer for the central midfielder, with a further £8m in add-ons, before next Thursday’s deadline, though Mauricio Pochettino’s side face stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea for his signature.
Barkley, who has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract at Goodison Park, has netted 27 times in 179 games overall for Everton.
