Mourinho is looking to add a striker to his Spurs squad.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI: We predict Jose Mourinho’s starting team as his Spurs side travel to his old club Chelsea in a huge Premier League clash.

This afternoon’s fixture is without doubt the biggest match of the Premier League weekend as 3rd placed Chelsea, face 2nd place Tottenham Hotspur with both teams a win away from going top of the table.

There will be extra incentive for both teams, after Liverpool failed to beat Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.

Spurs are on a very good run of form, having not lost in the Premier League since the opening day of the season. And in manager Jose Mourinho at the helm, this fixture was always going to have that extra intensity.

Lampard’s side are on a remarkable run of form themselves, winning their last six matches in a row across all competitions and looking a very solid outfit in the process.

Here we predict Tottenham’s starting XI to take on Chelsea…

Goalkeeper:

Club captain Hugo Lloris has been in fine form in a Spurs shirt throughout this season, and has managed to cut out the silly mistakes that always made Tottenham fans question their number one. With the star Chelsea attacking players on show today, Lloris will be expecting a busy afternoon in goal.

Defenders:

It was clear throughout Mourinho’s reign last season, that the manager did not know his best back four. Fast forward to this campaign and the Portuguese manager seems to have faith across his backline with Spurs defending very well in recent weeks. However, an injury to Toby Alderweireld will be a big loss to Mourinho forcing him to make a change. Eric Dier will start at centre back alongside the youngster Joe Rodon, who will be making his first start for the club. At right back we will see Serge Aurier with the talented Sergio Reguilon on the opposite flank.

Midfielders:

As well as Spurs’ incredible attacking force, a defensive player who deserves the plaudits he has been receiving is Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, the summer signing from Southampton has been excellent and will start in a midfield three today. Given Chelsea’s attacking talent, we feel Mourinho will name one more defensive minded player with the experienced Moussa Sissoko coming into the team. That leaves the uber-talented and in-form midfield force Tanguy Ndombele to complete the midfield.

Forwards:

Harry Kane will be a definite starter today and will be hoping to cause the in-form Chelsea defensive line problems this afternoon. The England international has been dropping deeper of late, so even if he doesn’t score goals he seems to be providing them on a regular basis. His partner in crime Son Heung-Min will also start, hoping to use his pace to get in behind the Blues back line. With options such as Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura, Mourinho seems to prefer Steven Begwijn in the big games, so we expect the dutchman to take the field from the start today.

Predicted Tottenham XI: Lloris; Aurier, Dier, Rodon, Reguilon; Sissoko, Højbjerg, Ndombele; Begwijn, Son, Kane.
