Mourinho is looking to add a striker to his Spurs squad.

Tottenham Hotspur’s predicted XI: We predict Jose Mourinho’s starting XI as his side host Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Spurs probably already feel like they are in December with the amount of football matches they have played already in this campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side have had to endure Europa League qualifying in the last few weeks which has involved a lot of travel and many games.

Following a terrible performance on the opening day in a loss at home to Everton, Spurs bounced back with a thumping 5-2 win on the road against Southampton.

During that game on the South Coast, Harry Kane provided an unbelievable four assists for team mate Heung-min Son and scored one himself.

Meanwhile Newcastle have started how they left off last season, with a good win and performance followed up by a disappointing display in a loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

So which Tottenham players will be tasked with the challenge of getting three points today? Here we predict Mourinho’s XI…

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris is looking in good form and will be starting today. Spurs’ number 2 started in the Europa League, but the France international will be expected to reclaim the number 1 jersey today.

Defenders: It’s quite clear that Mourinho doesn’t know what his best back four is. Eric Dier is being picked most games at centre back, a decision which splits the opinions of football fans up and down the country. Senior defender Toby Alderweireld missed out against Southampton and we expect, Davison Sanchez to start alongside Dier. Matt Doherty at right back and Ben Davies at left back will complete the back four.

Midfielders: Spurs’ biggest signing Tanguy Ndomble might finally be starting to find his feet at Spurs, having played well on the South Coast and fans will be desperate to see him again today. That leaves Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso to make up the midfield three with Harry Winks missing out as Spurs look to take the game to Newcastle.

Forwards: Harry Kane will be the first name on the team sheet today alongside his partner in crime Son who will put fear into the Magpies’ defenders. Lucas Moura started against Southampton but we expect Steven Bergwijn to come into the side to provide width and pace to an already frightening forward line-up.

Predicted XI: Hugo Lloris, Matt Doherty, Eric Dier, Davison Sanchez, Ben Davies, Tanguy Ndomble, Giovanni Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Steven Bergwijn
