Tottenham Hotspur face League One side MK Dons in their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Wednesday.

Spurs have recruited heavily so far this summer, spending more than £200 million on Jan-Paul Van Hecke, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, while defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also arrived on free transfers.

The Lilywhites have finished 17th in the Premier League in each of the past two seasons, and it appears that those in charge of their recruitment – including new manager Roberto De Zerbi – are keen to bolster their squad to ensure they improve this time around.

With that in mind, it has emerged that Tottenham are interested in another star who impressed at the World Cup.

As per Football Insider, Spurs are interested in Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup and have made contact about a possible move for the player.

The report suggests that the north London side are now looking to add to De Zerbi’s attacking options, having recruited heavily in defence and midfield since the start of the summer transfer window.

Schjelderup, 22, scored for Norway against England in the quarter-final of the World Cup, and also provided three assists at the tournament.

It appears that his impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed, with Spurs said to be exploring a possible move for the player.

The Norwegian joined Benfica in 2023 but returned to former club FC Nordsjaelland on loan until the following year.

In total he has played 86 times for his current club across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering the same number of assists.

His current contract in Lisbon is set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears that Spurs could attempt to lure him to London this summer.
