Tottenham Hotspur will hope to bounce back from their defeat against Aston Villa when they face Monaco on Wednesday.

Thomas Frank’s side had taken the lead against Villa on Sunday courtesy of Rodrigo Bentancur, but Morgan Rogers drew the visitors level before Emi Buendia turned the game on its head and earned Unai Emery’s side all three points.

That result leaves the Lilywhites sixth in the Premier League table, and Frank will hope to see his side return to winning ways when they visit Monaco in the Champions League group phase on Wednesday.

Ahead of the game, it has emerged that Spurs are keen on a prolific Spanish striker.

According to TBR Football, the North London club are keeping tabs on Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, who has been prolific since moving to Portugal.

Aghehowa, 21, joined Porto from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last year and has since scored 35 goals in 54 games for his current side.

So far this season he has netted eight goals in nine games across all competitions, including five in seven league matches.

Fabio Paratici – who returned as Tottenham’s sporting director last week after serving a ban imposed on him by FIFA – is said to be a huge admirer of the Spanish striker.

He has therefore added Aghehowa to Spurs’ shortlist of potential transfer targets, as the North London club look to bolster Frank’s attacking options next year.

Aghegowa, 21, is under contract in Porto until the end of the 2028/29 season, however, and Spurs may therefore face difficulties in attempting to sign the forward.

It is also claimed that, while the striker has an £87 million release clause included in his current contract, he would likely be available for a much lower fee due to Porto’s financial situation.
