Tottenham must snap up these 2 Bundesliga stars in January

Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday after a below par 2-1 defeat to Monaco summed up their European campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been well short in Europe this season, winning just one of their five matches, and have looked a shadow of the team that challenged Leicester for the Premier League title last time around.

Their defeat on Tuesday ended their hopes of qualification for the last 16, but if they avoid defeat against CKSA Moscow in their final match then they’ll qualify for the Europa League, if that can be seen as a consolation.

Nonetheless, Pochettino’s men are the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League after 12 games, having won six and drawn six, and sit just four points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in what will be a serious test of their unbeaten record, but if they can come out of that match unscathed, then Tottenham fans should be optimistic for the season ahead.

With January fast approaching, speculation is already building about who Pochettino could look to sign to bolster his squad, so here are TWO Bundesliga stars he should try and snap up in the New Year…

Niklas Sule

21-year-old centre-back Niklas Sule has been attracting interest from several Premier League clubs in the last few months, and it’s not difficult to see why.

The Hoffenheim defender has been outstanding at the back since making his debut for the Bundesliga side in 2013 and, barring a cruciate ligament injury in 2014, he has been a mainstay in the backline.

Sule has missed just one league game this season in helping Hoffenheim to an unbeaten start and fifth place in the Bundesliga, and he also won his first cap for Germany in August against Finland.

A towering centre-half who’s comfortable on the ball, Sule would complement Spurs’ other centre-back options, and could even give manager Pochettino the option to play three at the back, just like he did against Arsenal earlier on in the season.

Mahmoud Dahoud

Not a week goes by without Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud being linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has been making a name for himself in the Bundesliga since making his debut two years ago, and he has now become a regular feature in the Germany Under-21 side.

Incredible energy and fine eye for a pass, Dahoud could slot effortlessly into the Tottenham midfield, and would give Pochettino another great option in the middle of the park.

It has been reported that the midfielder has yet to sign a new deal at Monchengladbach, and with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund circling, it’s imperative that Spurs get in there first and secure a deal for the 20-year-old.
