Tottenham must snap up these 3 bargain buys in the January sales

With the January transfer window fast approaching Tottenham will be searching the market for players who can add to their options for the second half of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side haven’t had the best of starts to the season, having said that, they only suffered their second defeat of the league season at Old Trafford on Sunday, and currently lie in 5th place, three points off the top four.

Spurs have struggled to keep pace with their achievements last term, however, this may be more to do with other sides improving than Spurs getting worse. One thing is for sure though; the Lilywhites will be massively disappointed about the manner in which they were dumped out of the Champions League, having fought so hard last season to qualify.

However, Tottenham still do have a lot to play for during the second half of the season. They’ll be desperate to grab one of those top four places and qualify for the Champions League come May, so that they can put right what happened this campaign in the next one.

They’ll also be looking to make some headway in the Europa League where they are amongst the favourites to win the competition. To help them with these goals the recruitment team will no doubt be working overtime to identify players who can add extra quality to the side in January.

It’s always worth keeping an eye out for bargain buys during the window, as the money saved in these deals can be spent on other targets. With that said here’s THREE bargain buys Tottenham should be looking to snap up this January…

Saido Berahino

The enigma that is Saido Berahino could finally be about to realise his full potential. His contract is up this summer meaning he could be available for a cut-price fee this January. The 23-year-old doesn’t seem interested in signing a new deal, following the tricky spell he has had at the club since he tried to push through a move to Tottenham back in the summer of 2015.

Berahino undoubtedly has talent; if he settles quickly at Tottenham his goals and assists could make a real difference to the side that has scored the least goals out of the top five, despite the recent five-goal mauling of Swansea.

The striker could also prove to be the perfect foil for Harry Kane; the pair had a great relationship for England u21’s where both scored regularly. This could be a very important option for Spurs as Vincent Janssen continues to adapt to the English game.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin is badly out of favour at Old Trafford, with new manager Jose Mourinho appearing to almost completely disregard the Frenchman, who has only made two appearances in the league so far this campaign. As a result, it is likely the 27-year-old will be available for a cut-price fee this January.

Better still, Schneiderlin appears to be the perfect fit for Tottenham, under the tutelage of Pochettino in the 2013-14 season he had a fantastic partnership with Wanyama in central midfield. It just so happens that both men are currently employed by Spurs.

Isco

Isco is out-of-favour at Real Madrid, and is only now starting to gain minutes as a result of Gareth Bale’s injury. As a result he could be available for a cut-price fee this January once the Welshman has returned.

The Spaniard is an exceptional talent who will be desperate to hold down a starting role at a top club – so that he can showcase that talent on a regular basis. A motivated Isco could pay serious rewards for a Tottenham side that are struggling to find the net with the same regularity as last season.
