Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte’s bid to bolster his squad ahead of next term has lead him to a surprise move for Tomas Soucek, as per reports.

According to Football Insider, the Czech midfielder has been offered to Spurs by current club West Ham United, after talks over a new deal stalled.

The report claims that the midfielder’s relationship with Hammers boss David Moyes has been tested of late, and that there is a real possibility that the Czech international could now be on his way out of the London Stadium.

Soucek, 27, joined West Ham from Slavia Prague in 2020 and has since been in impressive form, playing more than 100 games for the Hammers.

The midfielder initially moved to England on loan, but made his move permanent just six months later and established himself as one of the best midfielders outside of the Premier League’s ‘top six’.

Soucek has scored 19 goals in 105 games for West Ham

Now, though, talks over a contract extension have stalled, and he could leave the club this summer.

His current deal is due to expire in 2024, and West Ham could choose to sell the player this summer rather than losing him for free in two years time, especially as the possibility of agreeing an extension seems unlikely at present.

West Ham are likely to be reluctant to do business with their London rivals, though, which could mean a deal proves tricky.

Conte’s side will compete in the Champions League next term and the Italian will therefore be looking to add several names to his squad ahead of what promises to be an exhausting season.

Harry Winks has been linked with an exit from the club, and Conte could consider a move for Soucek to replace him.
