Tottenham are reportedly ready to break the bank this summer in a bid to land Argentina international forward Mauro Icardi, according to Sky Italy (via Football Insider).
The Premier League club, who eventually finished third in the English top-flight standings after being pipped to the runners-up spot by North London rivals Arsenal on the final day of the 2015/16 term, have been linked with the Inter Milan striker.
The 23-year-old, who has one international cap for Argentina after making his international debut against Uruguay back in October 2013, scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit last season.
Icardi, who is also attracting interest from the Gunners and La Liga side Atletico Madrid, was left out of Argentina’s squad for this summer’s Copa America.
The report suggests that Spurs are willing to bid £38m for the Inter star, which would easily surpass the club’s £27m they splashed out on winger Erik Lamela back in 2013.
