Tottenham representatives have been instructed to open talks with Man United over a deal for French midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin by manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Daily Mail.

The French international flourished alongside Spurs’ summer signing, Victor Wanyama, during his time at Southampton under Pochettino’s guise, and now it appears the Argentine is keen to reunite the pair.

The 26-year-old, who made the move to English football in 2008 when he joined Saints in League One, however he appears to have fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho, with just five minutes of Premier League football under his belt so far this season.

Another former Saint, Tony Alderweireld – upon his move to North London – praised the Red Devils man and the new defensive midfielder at White Hart Lane when he joined the club, saying:

“At Southampton, Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin put good pressure so they didn’t have time to put the ball in the box – it makes it easier for defenders.”

The former Strasbourg man joined United last summer, for a fee of around £24m, which means he wouldn’t come cheap for Daniel Levy & Co, which could be a stumbling block.
