England international forward Harry Kane wants a pay rise if he is to sign a new contract at Tottenham, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who currently sit five points adrift of English top-flight leaders Liverpool following four consecutive draws, are keen to tie down their star striker to a new deal in an attempt to ward off his potential suitors.

The 23-year-old, who has 17 international caps for the Three Lions, but will not feature for England against Spain tonight to focus on regaining his match fitness, has scored three goals in seven appearances in all competitions for Spurs so far this season.

Kane, who graduated through the North London club’s youth ranks, has been Tottenham’s top goalscorer for each of the past two campaigns.

Currently contracted at White Hart Lane until 2020 and on around £50,000-a-week, the forward’s goalscoring exploits means Kane is keen to earn a respective salary for a top Premier League striker, with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge on £120,000-a-week and £140,000-a-week at Leicester City and Liverpool respectively.

Kane has scored 67 goals in 134 games for Tottenham overall.
