Lots of us like to play 5-a-side football in our spare time, but have you ever considered how the team you support would line-up if they were limited to five players?
Based on current form, and with a formation of one goalkeeper, one defender, two midfielders and one striker, we at Shoot thought it would be interesting to see who would make the grade for each Premier League outfit.
Here’s what we came up with for Tottenham…
Goalkeeper:
Hugo Lloris
You always want a strong, dependable keeper between the sticks, and Tottenham and France number 1, Lloris, has certainly proved that over the past few years.
The agile stopper has good distribution and lightning-quick reflexes, ideal for the smaller-sized goals.
Defender:
Alderweireld has been in fine form for Tottenham so far this season.
Toby Alderweireld
In most 5-a-side teams you want a destroyer in defence that attackers can’t get past, and if you’re picking one from Spurs, it would be their centre-back, Alderweireld.
The Belgian is strong, comfortable on the ball and has a rocket of a shot – useful for when things aren’t opening up in front of him.
Midfielders:
Christian Eriksen
The Danish attacking midfielder has shown his value to Tottenham with his assisting and goals ever since he made the move to White Hart Lane.
Blessed with quick feet that could get him out of the tightest of situations, he would be the creative force going forward in this team.
Dele Alli
Alli has made an impressive start to his Tottenham career.
While Eriksen would be the creator in the middle of the field, you need that player alongside him that will break-up the play too, and on current form we would have Dele Alli in our starting line-up.
The midfielder is all-action, has energy to get up and down the pitch and his ability to intercept and win the ball back is one of the reasons he has been a regular starter this season.
Striker:
Harry Kane
One of the Premier League’s best players on current form and a confident, clinical finisher; what more could you want?
After a slow start, the England international has come to life in recent weeks and his ability to put the ball in the net would be key to this team’s success.
