Transfer Talk: Five players Manchester City are most likely to sign in January transfer window

Pep's city are on a roll.

The Manchester Evening News have outlined the five players Manchester City are most likely to sign in January transfer window.

After winning the Premier League twice in the last two seasons, City now find themselves a staggering sixteen points behind Liverpool, with the Merseyside team still a game behind.

With Pep Guardiola’s side way off the title-winning pace, the Spaniard should be keen to find some reinforcements in the current January transfer window.

Below are his most-likely signings, in no particular order:

Kalidou Koulibaly

The Senegal international has been looking to leave Serie A side Napoli for quite some time, according to many reports in and out of Napoli.

Could the 28-year-old make the move to the Etihad to reinforce City’s defensive woes?

Kai Havertz

The young German international midfielder is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, currently playing his football at Bayer Leverkusen.

Rivals are currently favourites to secure Havertz’s signature, followed by Bayern Munich.

Adama Traore

A January signing for electrifying winger Traore, would certainly be a surprise, but there is no doubt Guardiola is a big fan of the former Barcelona man.

The Wolves man put City to the sword earlier in the season.

Pau Torres

City are currently favourites to sign the defender from La Liga side Villareal. Now 23-years-old, he has managed to raise his game this season and looks a real prospect.

Nathan Ake

More of an outside shot, especially given Bournemouth’s precarious Premier League position in the relegation places.

However, if the South Coast side were to drop down to the Championship, a whole host of Premier League sides would be staking a claim for the Dutch defender.
