Former Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is being interviewed about a possible return to Derby County, according to Sky sources.
The 55-year-old, who was sacked by the St James’ Park outfit back in March 2016 after their 3-1 defeat to the hands of then newly promoted AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, is understood to be one of the front-runners to take up the managerial role with the Rams once more.
McClaren, who was dismissed by Derby in May last year after failing to get the club into the Championship play-offs, has been out of work since leaving Newcastle and was comically caught on camera reacting to Iceland’s spectacular victory over England in this summer’s European Championships.
So; with the ex-England, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and FC Twente boss being considered for a controversial return to the iPro Stadium, here is how Twitter reacted:
Some were optimistic…

I’m actually excited with this news! We all know what McClaren is capable of as a coach if he’s in it! Might need to apologise though!
