On Monday night, Celtic’s U20 side saw a record breaking debutant take to the pitch off the bench against Hearts as 13-year-old – yes, thirteen – Karamoko Dembele made his bow for the age group, seven years above his own.
The youngster has been causing quite the frenzy in coaching circles after impressive performances against the likes of Barcelona over the summer for the Celtic U15’s.
It may be a while before we see Dembele line-up along his namesake, Moussa, in Bredan Rodgers’ first team setup, however, he is certain to have turned the head of the former Liverpool and Swansea manager.
16-year-old Jack Aitchison currently holds the record as the youngest ever player to feature for the first team at just 16 years and 71 days, scoring on his debut against Motherwell.
