Premier League champions Liverpool will hope to return to winning ways when they face Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds – who had secured the title with four matches to spare after beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 last month – suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Chelsea in their last outing.

Arne Slot, who is just the second manager to guide Liverpool to the Premier League title, will expect to see his side improve when they host the Gunners on Sunday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Liverpool are considering two elite strikers as possible transfer targets this summer.

As per TBR Football, the Merseyside outfit are monitoring both Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres as possible alternatives to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The report claims that the Reds are keen on Isak, however the Magpies are reluctant to lose their talismanic forward and are instead hoping to agree a new deal with the player.

Osimhen has emerged as a target for Liverpool

Liverpool may therefore be forced to look elsewhere as they search for a new forward, and Sweden internationals Osimhen and Gyokeres have emerged as possible targets.

Osimhen, 26, has scored 33 goals in 37 games for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish outfit on loan from Napoli last summer, however he has a release clause of £60 million in his current contract.

His future remains very uncertain, and the report claims that Liverpool have laid the groundwork for a possible move for the Nigeria international who is said to be keen on the idea of a move to the Premier League.

Gyokeres, meanwhile, has netted 95 times in 99 games for Portuguese side Sporting CP since joining the club from Coventry City.

The Sweden international has been linked with a return to England in recent months, with Arsenal also interested in the player.
