Aston Villa look like missing out on Sam Hughes to Leicester City.
According to a report in the Birmingham Mail the young Chester defender is on his way to Leicester City despite interest from Villa.
Hughes was a commanding figure in the heart of the Chester defence despite their lowly finish in the National League.
A number of Championship sides expressed an interest in the 20-year-old but it seems that Leicester have made the biggest impression on Hughes with a fee of £125,000 agreed with Chester.
Steve Bruce has expanded Villa’s scouting network across the lower divisions in a bid to bring in players ready to make the step up rather than looking in foreign markets.
After half a season in charge at Villa Park Bruce is expecting a busy summer of players coming and going as he attempts to repeat his 2016 achievement when he took Hull City to automatic promotion.
