Manchester City Women reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday night thanks to a stunning strike from forward Toni Duggan.

The Citizens advanced to the last-eight after defeating Brondby 2-1 on aggregate, following last night’s 1-1 draw in Denmark.

Keira Walsh’s only goal of the game during the first-leg gave Man City the upper hand heading into Wednesday night’s clash, before England international Duggan doubled the visitors’ advantage with a wonderful opener.

The forward turned and struck an unstoppable first time effort into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper completely helpless from 25 yards out.

Nanna Christiansen equalised on the night for the Danes shortly after, but City hung on to reach the quarter-finals.

The Women’s Super League 1 champions will join Europe’s elite in the last-eight in March 2017.

The other four clubs to join City in the quarter-finals so far are Fortuna Hjørring, Lyon, FC Barcelona and Rosengard.

Tonight’s second-leg ties see BIIK Kazygurt host Paris Saint-Germain (0-3), Eskilstuna United DFF welcome Wolfsburg (1-5) and Bayern Munich entertain Rossiyanka.
