Watford are reportedly interested in signing England Under-21 international star Nathaniel Chalobah, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

The Premier League side, who finished 17th in the English top-flight standings last term, just six points above the relegation zone, have been linked with the out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 22-year-old, who featured for the Young Lions at the 2017 European Under-21 Championships last month, provided one assist in 15 appearances in all competitions for The Blues last season – after making his first-team debut against Leicester City last September in the EFL Cup.

New Watford boss Marco Silva.

Chalobah, who has previously been loaned out to the likes of Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli, could be set for a return to Vicarage Road as the central midfielder seeks more first-team opportunities.

The Chelsea youth graduate spent time with The Hornets during the 2012-13 campaign, netting five times in 42 games for the then Championship outfit.

Despite Blues boss Antonio Conte handing Chalobah just one Premier League start last term, the report suggests the club are keen to extend the midfielder’s current deal, which has just one year remaining.
