Watford’s best player after 10 Premier League games…

Odion Ighalo

Before Saturday’s 2-0 win at Stoke City; Odion Ighalo was the only current Watford player to score in the Premier League this season after ten games.

Before Saturday’s strikes from Troy Deeney and Almen Abdi; Odion Ighalo was single-handedly leading Watford’s charge in the Premier League as the club’s only goalscorer in the current squad to find the back of the net in the English top-flight this season. He is still English football’s top goalscorer this calendar year with 21 goals, so far. The Nigeria international, who only made his debut against Uganda back in March, has become an instant fan favourite at Vicarage Road after a fruitful debut season during their promotion winning Championship campaign and his profitable start to life in the Premier League this term. The 26-year-old, who originally joined the Hornets on loan from Serie A side Udinese last summer, netted 20 league goals in 35 appearances as Watford finished second in the second-tier to return to the Promised Land after a nine-year absence. Ighalo formed a formidable and destructive partnership with top goalscorer Deeney (21) along the way to their automatic promotion finish, before taking pole position in this season’s goalscoring charts with five goals in Watford’s opening ten fixtures, including a crucial winning brace at Newcastle United last month.
