West Ham United have reportedly switched their attentions to signing AC Milan forward Alessandro Matri on a season-long loan deal.

Hammer boss Slaven Bilic is suffering a striker crisis at Boleyn Ground so early on in the season, with both Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll currently on the sidelines.

The 31-year-old, who has seven international caps to his name, scored nine goals in 26 appearances in all competitions last season for the San Siro outfit.

West Ham were on the verge of sealing a deal with Juventus for fellow Italy striker Simone Zaza, but the deal collapsed due to the Serie A champions offloading Fernando Llorente to Sevilla.
