West Ham United are reportedly ready to make a shock January swoop for England international Daniel Sturridge, according to the Brentwood Gazette.

The Premier League side, who currently sit sixth in the standings following their 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday, are interested in snapping up the injury-plagued Liverpool hitman for around £18m this month.

The 26-year-old, who has 16 international caps for the Three Lions, has scored four goals in just six appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.

Sturridge, who has severely struggled with fitness at Anfield since his £12m move from Chelsea three years ago, is ready to be offloaded by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp following his frequent spells on the sidelines this campaign.
