West Ham target Champions League striker

West Ham United are reportedly ready to make a move for Ivory Coast international Seydou Doumbia in January.

With AS Roma and CSKA Moscow yet to finalise the future of the striker following his loan move to the Russian outfit, the Premier League side are thought to be willing to pounce and make an offer for the 27-year-old during the forthcoming transfer window.

Doumbia, who has 31 international caps to his name, has scored an impressive 11 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions this season, including Moscow’s equaliser against Manchester United in their Champions League stalemate earlier this term.

The Ivorian only left CSKA for Serie A last January; but just two goals in 14 games for the Stadio Olimpico outfit saw Doumbia re-sign for his former club on a season-long loan deal back in August.

Although Moscow want to extend Doumbia’s stay in Russia; it is thought that Roma are only interested in selling the striker in the New Year, which is why the Hammers have reportedly stepped up their pursuit.
