Liverpool are reportedly wasting their time if they plan to land Argentina international midfielder Manuel Lanzini this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who defeated German outfit Hertha Berlin 3-0 on Saturday in their latest pre-season friendly, have been linked with the West Ham United star, should they lose fellow ace Philippe Coutinho to FC Barcelona before the close of the transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has two international caps for his country, scored eight goals and provided two assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for The Hammers last season.

Lanzini, who joined the London club on an initial loan from Al Jazira back in July 2015, has netted 15 times in 73 games overall for Slaven Bilic’s side.

The report suggests West Ham will reject any potential bid for the Argentine this summer from Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, with Barcelona said to be preparing a whopping £80m bid for Brazilian Coutinho.
