Where are they now? Lazio 1999/2000 Serie A champions

Name: Roberto Mancini
Position: Striker

Then: Mancini was approaching the end of a long and illustrious career at the top of the Italian game as the 1999/2000 season approached. Earmarked as a potential managerial candidate, Lazio manager Sven Goran-Eriksson allowed Mancini to be part of his coaching back room. However, on the pitch, Mancini appeared to have lost his much famed scoring touch. In what would become his final season with the club, he failed to hit the net. Struggling for first-team appearances and form in general, Mancini – approaching his 37th birthday – made a shock move to Premier League side, Leicester City.

Now: Like a lot of the former-players in this list, Mancini has gone on to forge a successful career in management. He left Leicester City having played just four games for the club and took up the vacant managerial post at Fiorentina. He will perhaps be best remembered for his spell as manager of Manchester City – helping the side lift the Premier League in the 2011-2012 season. After he was unceremoniously dumped by City in 2013, he took up a post at Turkish giants, Galatasaray. He is currently the manager of Inter Milan for a second time and has the arduous task of restoring the fallen giant’s status as one of the top teams in Europe.
