As the league table for the whole 2015/16 Premier League season shows, Tottenham have also been the second best team when you just take the 2016 results into consideration – the only side that has outperformed them is the surprise leaders, Leicester City.

However, they did end 2015 in fourth in the standings behind Arsenal and Manchester City, and have since jumped above both of those sides, including their arch-rivals from north London, to be the main competitors to Claudio Ranieri’s side in the title race with five fixtures of the campaign remaining.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s fine form this year means they are ever closer to finishing above Arsenal in the Premier League for the first time, which would provide some comfort to Spurs supporters if they are to miss out on the title.
