Who are Arsenal’s top-5 highest paid players?

Even with non-footballing fans, the subject of player’s wages is often a talking point.

Money from TV companies, sponsorship has come rushing in to the Premier League over the last decade or so.

Quite obviously, this has seen  wages rise season after season and there really sees no sign of that slowing.

Arsenal have the fourth highest wage-bill in the Premier League behind Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, but who are the Gunners’ top-paid players?

Here’s the top-5 highest earners at Arsenal (all numbers according to spotrac).

5. David Luiz – £125,673 per-week

A surprise acquisition from Chelsea back in August 2019. The Gunner’s old boss Unai Emery signed Luiz for £8million from their cr0ss-town London neighbours. Despite the air of criticism surrounding the signing, the Brazil international has proved to be the best performing centre back at the club throughout the season. Is assured performances and eye for a goal have made him first choice at the heart of the defence.

– Nicolas Pepe – £140,000 per-week

Another 2019 summer signing, this time in the way of ex-Lille wide forward Nicolas Pepe. At a fee of £71.1million, the 24-year-old was always going to come with a large wage of an eye-watering £140,000 pr-week. Some fans will be disappointed with the performances of Pepe, but there is no doubt the boy possesses plenty of talent. His ability to beat his defender with ease is shown week-in-week-out and he has scored some important goals this season.

3. Alexandre Lacazette – £182,063 per-week

A real fan favourite at the Emirates, the France striker is certainly loved by the Gooners. He certainly knows how to find the net, but his all-round play brings so much more than just goals. He’s a selfless striker, who is clearly loved by his team mates. Lacazette joined the club in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to win the Player of the Year title at the end of the 2018-2019 campaign.

2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £200,000 per-week

Goals, goals, goals. That’s what Aubameyang has been all about this season, notching an impressive 20 goals in all competitions already this season. The 29-year-old has formed a formidable partnership with Lacazette and since the arrival of manager Mikel Arteta, the Gabon international has been plying his trade on the left side of attack, but yet the goals still keep on coming. Unfortunately for the club, Aubameyang has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal, but they will be desperate to keep their star striker.

1. Mesut Ozil – £350,000 per-week

It won’t come as a surprise to any football fan that Ozil tops the salary list at Arsenal. At the time of signing the new and improved deal, Ozil was playing quite possibly playing his best football of his career and definitely in an Arsenal shirt. However, since then, the Germany international hasn’t hit his best form and is not a guaranteed starter. He’s been linked with moves to Turkey and other European destinations, but his high wage is often a stumbling block.
