Name: Vincent Kompany
Position: Centre-Back
Manchester City are the joint-top goalscorers in the Premier League this season, but that hasn’t stopped them recording back-to-back defeats against two of their rivals for the title.
City captain Kompany may have played in the latter of those against Tottenham, but there is still no doubt that the team looks a lot more comfortable when the Belgium international is at the heart of the back four, rather than when there is a pairing such as Martin Demichelis and Eliaqum Mangala.
Now he has returned from injury, Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping his skipper can remain fit for the final 12 games – which includes fixtures against rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal – as his presence and influence at centre-back could be the key to the Citizens making a final tilt at winning the league for a third time.
