Why Chelsea should snap up Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin is rumoured to have interested a number of Premier League clubs, who are all thought to be considering a move for the Frenchman in January.

Schneiderlin has only made two appearances in the league so far this season and didn’t even manage to make it off the bench during last week’s EFL cup victory over West Ham.

It’s clear that Jose Mourinho doesn’t rate the 27-year-old, meaning he’ll likely be made available this coming January. If Schneiderlin can rediscover the form that got him his big money move to United in the first place, he would improve any side in the league.

Chelsea will be looking for reinforcements as they look to reclaim the league title after a pathetic defence last term. The Blues have adapted well to new manager Antonio Conte’s style of play, and as a result currently sit top of the Premier League.

Schneiderlin has the potential to provide the added steel to this Chelsea side that could make all the difference during the second half of the campaign. With the margins being so fine in the Premier League here are TWO reasons why we here at Shoot! reckon Chelsea should move for Schneiderlin this January.

Replacement for Kante and Matic

New manager Antonio Conte seems to have settled on a 3-4-3 formation, with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic his preferred two to start in the centre of midfield. The formation means that this midfield pair are required to get about the pitch and cover some serious ground. Both Kante and Matic do this to great effect; Schneiderlin has shown he can play this role too; it was a series of dynamic displays that earned him his move to United in the first place.

Chelsea’s only other alternative to protect the back line is John Obi Mikel, a player who is not known for energetic displays, and one who could struggle in this new system. Schneiderlin appears to be a better option for Chelsea, one that could make a big difference come the end of the campaign.

They’ve got a great chance to reclaim their title – they need to take it

Last season would have hurt Chelsea, there’s no doubt about it, the players, the fans, everybody. Slipping from 1st all the way down to 10th place is not what the club would have had in mind going into last season.

The players have worked so hard to prove themselves again, and are back at the top of English football in double quick time, having stolen a march on their title rivals with some great football so far this term.

Now they have to take advantage – signing Schneiderlin could be the difference between runner-up and champions come May. The Frenchman would provide extra security when Chelsea need to see out tight games, as every league winner has to at some point.
