Why Paulo Dybala would be the perfect addition for Mourinho’s Manchester United

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United find themselves just three points adrift of the Premier League’s top four with 12 games of the season remaining.

The Red Devils made a sluggish start to life under the Portuguese and found themselves eighth after a 0-0 draw at home to Burnley on October 29, but nine wins and seven draws since then has propelled them to the cusps of the Champions League qualification places.

United are sixth in the division having won 13 of their 26 league games, but they trail fourth place Liverpool by just three points and do have a game in hand over the Merseyside outfit.

And given that Mourinho’s men have already won the League Cup this season, and are also in the last 16 of the Europa League and the last eight of the FA Cup, it could turn out to be a great campaign for the Manchester club.

Nonetheless, despite there still being two months of the season remaining, speculation has already begun about who United could look to sign in the summer, and one name that has cropped up is Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.

The Argentina international is reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated at the Serie A champions, and given that he is a reported target for United, here are THREE reasons why he’d be a perfect addition to the squad at Old Trafford…

He’s the future

At just 23 years of age, and having already made a name for himself, Dybala looks set to go on and have a phenomenal career.

The Juventus forward made his professional debut all the way back in 2011, aged just 17, and has since then developed into one of Europe’s best strikers.

Dybala earned his first call-up to the Argentina national team in 2015, and has since go on to play five more times for his country, although has yet to net for them.

Nonetheless, the 23-year-old has already made great strides in his short career thus far – he’s the future, and someone who could lead the line at Old Trafford for many years to come.

Need more to help Ibrahimovic

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored 26 goals for Manchester United this season, and when the next highest goal-scorer is Juan Mata with nine, it’s clear that the Red Devils are overly reliant on the 35-year-old.

And given that he is yet to commit his future to the club, with his contract up in the summer, Mourinho has to be looking at players that can either help the Swede should he stay, or indeed fill the void if he leaves.

Dybala could be that man.

The 23-year-old scored 19 goals in just 34 Serie A games last term to help Massimiliano Allegri’s side win the title by nine points, and although he has had a few injury troubles this season, he has still managed seven goals and five assists in 20 league matches.

Dybala backs himself every time he gets close to goal, and given that he is strong, holds the ball up well, and can also take defenders on with his turn of pace, he has all the traits of being an excellent striker in the Premier League.

United need more goals in the team – Dybala would surely give them that.

Already proven at high level

It’s not as if United are going to spend lots of money on someone unproven in a top European league.

Dybala moved to Juventus back in 2015 after netting 13 goals in 35 games for Palermo in the 2014/15 campaign, and he has since got better and better in front of goal.

The Argentine international has scored 35 goals in just 75 games for the Serie A giants, including goals in the league and indeed the Champions League.

And with four goals and three assists in his last six games for Juve, he’s not letting up, and it’s form like this that has attracted widespread interest across Europe.

Although he is still only 23, Dybala has played over 200 times in his career already, and scored goals at every level he has played at – he’s proven, and someone that could take United to the next level.
