Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be interested in making a move for English winger Ademola Lookman this January.

Lookman has been in sparkling form for Charlton so far this season, scoring six goals in 20 games. This comes of the back of an impressive breakthrough campaign last year in which he showcased his undeniable talent.

The 19-year-old plays with the swagger of a talented youngster but is now beginning to marry that with consistency. His recent performances have not gone unnoticed by English football’s big boys, with a move now seeming inevitable.

Lookman’s pace and finishing ability could prove a real asset to Arsenal this season, particularly from the bench against tiring opposition defences. Add to this the enthusiasm and energy that comes with youth and you have an exciting prospect for Arsene Wenger to work with.

However, Lookman has also attracted interest from a host of other teams. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are rumoured to have taken an interest, with the two sides set to battle it out this January transfer window.

With Lookman’s long-term future still up in the air, here are THREE reasons why he should choose Arsenal over Liverpool this January.

Will get to link up with Walcott and The Ox

It’s difficult to think of two more relevant footballing mentors for Ademola Lookman than Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamerlain.

Both joined Arsenal, their first Premier League side, from the lower leagues, as well as both being English and playing predominantly as wingers – this makes them well placed to offer advice to young Lookman as he tries to find his way in the game.

Lookman will no doubt have his eye on becoming a full England international one day, with Walcott and Oxlade-Chamerlain having achieved the feat their advice could prove invaluable in helping him settle at the club and get to the level of performance required, they know what it takes.

Gets to work with Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger is a coach with a wealth of experience, having been in management for 32 years. The Frenchman has overseen the development of countless players, learning and adapting his approach to each style of player of the years.

As already mentioned, he helped develop Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain from talented youngsters to full England internationals, two players who have a very similar profile to Lookman.

Lookman could do a lot worse than learn the game under the guidance of Wenger. If the 67-year-old sees something in a player and sanctions a move, you know he has real faith in the player and will stop at nothing until his potential is realised.

He will get to stay living in London

Ademola Lookman was born and raised in London and a move to Liverpool would be taking him away from his home. Whereas a move to Arsenal would mean he could stay where he currently is, with his friends and family around him.

How comfortable a young player is in his surroundings can have a major bearing on how they perform on the pitch.

Would the risk of such upheaval be worth it when there are top teams in London vying for his signature?
