Why this Spain star should snub Tottenham for Man United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could reportedly be targeting a sensational move for Spanish playmaker Isco this January.

The 24-year-old has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Real Madrid and recent reports suggest senior figures within the club are keen on extending this.

This fits with Madrid’s recent policy of retaining their current assets, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric all signing on the dotted line in the past few months. It’s a sensible move from the reigning European champions, who are banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows along with city rivals Atletico.

However, Isco appears unlikely to agree to the extension amid frustration over limited minutes at the Bernabeu this season. The Spaniard has started just eight of a possible 17 games this term, and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes.

Isco’s sublime cameo in last week’s 2-2 draw at Wembley was a timely reminder to interested clubs in England of what he can do, and is believed to have caught the attention of a certain Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is desperate to ease his side’s problems in the final third, with Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney bang out of form so far this season.

However, Isco’s situation has also attracted interest from a host of other teams. Pochettino’s Tottenham made enquires in the summer and look certain to return given their troubles finding the net in recent months.

With Isco’s long-term future very much up in the air, here are THREE reasons why he should choose United over Tottenham this January.

Play with big name players

Isco is sure to welcome linking up with star players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard will know that the chances he creates are likely to be gobbled up by the Swede, who has shown over the past decade just how deadly he is in front of goal.

Additionally, the all action-style of Paul Pogba, who, as he settles in the Premier League, will allow Manchester United to dominate games, will provide Isco a platform from which to work his magic.

Link up with fellow Spaniards

There are a host of Spaniards currently playing their football at Old Trafford, which would aid the settling-in process , allowing Isco to hit the ground running.

Isco will know Ander Herrera, David de Gea and Juan Mata well having played and trained alongside them for a number of years whilst on international duty.

If Isco is made to feel comfortable in Manchester he could be picking locks for the Red Devils immediately, driving them towards the C0hampions League places, and who knows maybe even title glory.

Join a footballing juggernaut

Although Manchester United have dropped off somewhat in the years following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, they are still undoubtedly one of if not the biggest, club in global football.

The sheer size of the club demands success; with vast sums being spent on top talent and a coach now in place that can lure some of the best players from around the world, the future looks bright for the red half of Manchester.

The Red Devils are likely to be competing at the top table of English and European football before long and Isco could play a key role in the recovery of this footballing giant.
