Burkina Faso international Bertrand Traore has admitted he has been left shocked by Chelsea’s decision to loan him out this season, according to the Evening Standard.

The 21-year-old, who joined Eredivisie giants Ajax for the 2016/17 campaign back in August, scored four goals and provided one assist in 16 appearances in all competitions for The Blues last season.

However, Traore’s impressive displays last term wasn’t enough to impress new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer after leaving his coaching role with the Italy national team following Euro 2016.

This was despite featuring in five pre-season fixtures under the Italian, before putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal with Chelsea, before agreeing a loan switch to Ajax.

The forward said, “I felt, and feel, that I am ready for Chelsea.

“I did not see the loan overall [picture]. Why did I play so much in pre-season?

“Why was I allowed to participate so often under Guus Hiddink [last season]? Why do young players get no real chance at Chelsea?
