Arsenal are reportedly keeping close tabs on England international midfielder Ross Barkley this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who finished fifth in the top-flight table last term, one point adrift of fourth placed Liverpool in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification, have been linked with a potential move for The Toffees star following his uncertain future at Goodison Park ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has 22 international caps for The Three Lions, scored six goals and provided nine assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for Everton last season.

Barkley, who has been with the club since the age of 11, has netted 27 times in 179 games overall for the Merseyside outfit, and enjoyed loan spells away at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United back in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Everton ace Barkley.

However, with just one year remaining on his current contract, the central midfielder is yet to agree terms on a new deal and is alerting potential suitors to his possible availability.

Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been previously linked with The Toffees ace, but the report now suggests Arsenal are also monitoring his contract situation, with the player failing to travel with the remainder of the Everton squad on their pre-season tour of Tanzania due to a groin injury.
