Canaries to hand ex-QPR star a Premier League return

Norwich City are reportedly lining up a surprise move for ex-Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton.

The newly promoted Premier League side are considering offering the 32-year-old a deal at the club following his release from the Championship outfit towards the end of last season.

Barton, who won one international cap for England, scored one goal in 28 appearances in all competitions for Chris Ramsey’s side last season as they slipped out of the English top flight.

Having also played for Manchester City and Newcastle United; Barton has made it clear his desire is to return to the Premier League this summer, with the Canaries in pole position as manager Alex Neil looks to bolster his midfield ranks.

    Pleased for Joey I was sorry to see him released, one of the few who gave 100% every game he played. You cannot ask for more and I wish him well

    Totally agree with the last comment no matter what you think of barton he was always committed to doing his best in games. In my opinion him and Richard Dunne should’ve at least been offered another year,great to have them in the changing room with the younger players. Our loss is nnnaaarrrwwicchh’s gain.

    Be a good signing for Norwich gives his all and a decent passer of the ball. Wish him well get a good reception at loftus road if he plays there ever again with an opposing team.

    Fair enough he gave 100% last season but the fact remains he’s a liability and a destructive force in the changing room. How long before he kicks off due to something not going his way. Plus he’s no longer Premiership quality and in my opinion never has been he’s a good Championship player if that.
    Being a NCFC supporter since the days of the great Mike Walker I haven’t disagreed with many things the management have done but this would be one big mistake.
